Introductory Mixing
Prerequisites
Successful completion of Level 1 or equivalent knowledge.
Location
Classes are taught right in our studio. Discover pro audio engineering techniques while mixing a multitrack recording in class.
Tools
Work in your choice of today's leading DAW: Ableton Live, Logic, Reason, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One or FL Studio.
Schedule
Level 2 is one month in duration. It runs 4 times per year. See the schedule below for class dates and times.

COURSE OUTLINE
History
Trace the evolution of the roles of producer and audio engineer over the last 100 years.
Acoustics and Psychoacoustics
Discover how knowledge of acoustics and psychoacoustics can be applied to get better results in the studio.
Introduction to Mixing
Follow the stages of the professional mixing process and understand how each contributes to a finished mix.
Level Balancing and Stereo Imaging
Learn the importance of proper gain staging and explore the stereo field, then apply these techniques to your own project in class.
Dynamics
Vastly improve your mix via manual dynamic editing, gating, compression and de-essing.
Equalization
Learn to identify each part of the frequency spectrum by ear and by name, then apply parametric equalization to your project.
Dimension
Program a series of essential echo and reverb effects that will enable you to quickly add dimension and depth to any mix.
Final Mix
Test your mix in each of our studio's monitoring environments, then finesse it with feedback from a professional mix engineer.
